Buck Cattle Company IS OWNED BY JIRL, BRENDA & BAILEY BUCK. Jirl grew up showing cattle and had the opportunity to work for several top cattle producers while attending college. In 1987, he began buying and selling show steers and heifers. As the demand for high quality show heifers was on the rise, and at the time, high quality Maine-Anjou cattle were in short supply, we began to build our own breeding program. Our goal was to produce cattle that have the style, balance, and power to compete in the show ring but also be able to perform in the real world of beef production and that is still our goal today.
SINCE THEN, WE HAVE WORKED TO MAKE BUCK CATTLE COMPANY A PREMIER SEEDSTOCK PRODUCER. We held the first Fall Premier Sale in 1995, and the first Spring Edition Sale in 1996. In 2011, we had our first Monthly Online Auction and we will have an online sale every month except March and October. Our online sales will offer a variety of products from our operation including show prospects, herd bulls, semen packages, embryos, and bred females.
OUR MAIN FOCUS HAS ALWAYS BEEN CUSTOMER SERVICE. Our customers have become partners, but more importantly, they are great friends. Our customers range in age from 8 to 90 so they have different goals and we strive to help them reach them. Whether it’s to win in the show ring or add pounds to a calf crop we want to see them succeed.
WE ARE BELIEVERS IN THE VALUE OF JUNIOR LIVESTOCK PROGRAMS. Our daughter, Bailey, has grown up showing cattle. We have spent most weekends and summers at junior livestock shows because we believe in the future of the cattle business, and we wouldn’t have had it any other way.
WE CALVE BOTH SPRING AND FALL TO MEET OUR CUSTOMERS‘ DEMANDS. Our cow herd consists of 200 head of Maine-Anjou females, 25 head of Hereford females, and 100 head of Bucking Bull producing females. We raise 125 head of embryo calves annually as well.
