Buck Cattle Company is owned by Jirl, Brenda and Bailey Buck. Jirl showed cattle in 4-H and FFA, being fortunate to have the opportunity to work for several top operations and things just grew from there. Buck Cattle Company began by buying and selling show steers and heifers. As we saw the demand for high-quality show heifers on the rise, and the short supply of quality Maine-Anjou cattle, we began to try to build our own breeding program. Since 1987, we have worked to develop a strong Maine-Anjou cattle operation. Our first Fall Premier Sale was held in 1995, and our first Spring Edition Sale followed in 1996. Our goal has always been to produce top quality show prospects with a focus on customer service. Our customers have become partners, not to mention, great friends. Several have started their own successful herds from show heifers bought in previous sales. We are also avid supporters of junior programs. The juniors are the future of the cattle business and junior programs allow families to work on projects together. Our daughter Bailey loves showing cattle. We spend most weekends going to junior shows with our daughter and helping our customers. Currently we run 200 purebred Maine-Anjou females, 350 recipient cows (125 head of those are carrying Bucking Bull calves), and 150 replacement females. We market approximately 120 show heifer prospects in the two sales, 150 bred females, 125 bulls and 50 show steer prospects are sold at private treaty sales annually. We believe in our program and we have a strong genetic base in our cow herd, as well as our customer's herd. Therefore, it's just going to get bigger and better.
